Brookline has been thinking about ground since Frederick Law Olmsted drew his parks from a house on Warren Street, and the town still shows it in its hedges and its long-held shade. Brookline Landscaping works at the everyday end of that inheritance — mowing, trimming, edging, and hauling the season away when it piles up. The soil here is old and rooty and full of stone, so a good lawn is something you keep after rather than something you find. Late May is the reward: deep green, cut clean, the maples throwing shade across a yard that looks intended. That is the whole aim — a place that looks like somebody means it.
