First light comes up gray over the Salisbury Plain, and the dew on a Brockton lawn is still unbroken when the day's first pass begins. A.C. Masonry Landscape and Construction works the grounds of this old shoe-city and the towns that ring it, mowing and tending yards from the triple-decker streets near the center out to the wide green quiet around D.W. Field Park. There is real satisfaction in the result: a lawn cut to one even nap, a border edged so cleanly it draws its own line, a strip of turf that looks intentional against brick and fieldstone. Come evening, when the long shadows stretch across a finished yard and the mower's stripes catch the last of the light, the work speaks plainly for itself.
