Colson's Tree Service

About Colson's Tree Service

Low tide in Brewster pulls the bay out for what feels like a mile, and the light comes back off those flats onto every yard along 6A. Colson's Tree Service works in that salt light — pitch pines bent by wind off the water, oaks crowded thick around the kettle ponds at Nickerson, locusts pressing in on a shell driveway. Pruning on this shoreline is half art: take the weight off the seaward side, keep a tree's lean honest, let the house keep its view. When a nor'easter comes up the outer arm and puts a pine across the road, the work starts before the wind has finished. Come spring the cleared yards open up green, and the sound of the herring run at Stony Brook carries across a lawn with nothing left lying on it.
