About C. Ciano Landscape & Construction

A property that's been looked after gives something back at the plainest hour — a driveway you can step onto in the dark without bracing, a way to the road that asks nothing of you. C. Ciano Landscape & Construction clears snow in Billerica, where the Concord and the Shawsheen run black between old mill banks and the pines along the back lots hold their white long after the streets have gone gray. The work happens early, in headlight-blue cold: plow lanes opened wide, walkways cut clean down to pavement, banks pushed back off the mailbox and the apron so the next storm has somewhere to go. There is a quiet pleasure in the shape it leaves behind — dark asphalt, square corners, a lot that looks like somebody decided it would be passable today. It is winter work for Billerica and the towns around it, done before most of the valley is awake.
