The old shoe-machinery mills along the Bass River are brick and glass now, and the grass around them greens up in April the same as everywhere else in Beverly. Marron Brothers Landscaping starts the year right there and works outward: first cuts, edges recut along walks and drives, beds cleaned out and mulched, the winter's litter raked off and gone. Through summer it settles into a weekly rhythm — mow, trim, blow down, leave it looking like nobody was there except the lawn got better.
