November is the hinge of the year in Bellingham: one week the crew is setting the last stone in a walkway, the next the trucks are staged and waiting on the sky. Harris & Company works both sides of that turn — landscape design and construction through the green months, with patios and walkways, pool decking, firepits and outdoor kitchens, sitting and retaining walls, plantings and low-voltage lighting — and then plowing and ice control for driveways, condos, plazas and daycares once the Blackstone Valley goes white. It is plain, satisfying work: a base compacted deep enough to hold a truck, a walk pitched so water leaves instead of lingering, a lot opened at three in the morning so somebody's ordinary Tuesday can simply happen. This corner of Massachusetts, where the mill-village streets run down toward the Rhode Island line, tests everything it is given with freeze and thaw, and a yard built for that keeps its lines long after the season that made it. From the shop on Williams Way the work reaches out to Franklin, Medway, Milford, Hopedale, Blackstone, Mendon and across the border into Woonsocket.
