Late in the season the Cape turns over in a single week — the marsh grass off Barnstable Harbor goes from green to brass, the pitch pines let go of their needles, and the work turns with it: mowers give way to rakes, and the saws come out for the limbs that summer let grow long. TAKA Tree Landscape works this sandy stretch of the Mid-Cape, taking down trees and trimming them, grinding stumps flush, bracing what can be saved, and clearing lots back to open ground. The other half of the year is softer and just as exacting: mowing, edging, fertilizing, mulch laid dark around beds, sod rolled into place, hardscape set where a yard needs a shape it can keep. There is a real satisfaction in the after — the clean cut on a pruned limb, the crisp edge holding a curve, the spring cleanup that leaves a property looking like it has been waiting all winter to be seen. From Sandwich out to Provincetown, the crew leaves places tidier than the wind found them.
