Arlington rises from Spy Pond and the Mystic's slow water up to the Heights, where the streets tilt hard enough that a hillside yard has opinions about drainage — and that ground is where D. Muzzioli Associates does its work. The crews plant and maintain landscapes here from the first sketch through selection and planting, set irrigation lines beneath the turf, and lay patios, walkways, and fencing that give a sloping lot somewhere level to stand. There is a real pleasure in a stone path washed back to its own color by hot water, in beds that hold their shape after a July storm, in a walk that reads as intentional from the sidewalk. Winter turns the same terrain into a different problem: plow and hand work on the drives and paths, pre-treatment ahead of the ice, melt products where the shade never quits, and the snow itself hauled off to the company's own farm rather than piled where spring will have to answer for it.
