Out in West Parish the stone walls still run through the trees where the pastures used to be, and June arrives fast — grass jumping after every rain, lilacs going by, the mowing season wide open. There is an old orchard rhythm to the land here, long lawns rolling toward the walls, and a mowing line that follows the slope instead of fighting it.
