About Second Chance Composting

By mid-October the rail trail through Adams runs gold end to end, and every lawn in town lies under an inch of the same. Second Chance Composting takes on that season's lawn work: the last cuts of the year, leaf and debris cleanup, garden bed tidying, and spreading finished compost back onto the ground that grew it. In a mill town that knows something about second uses, the circularity of it feels right. Spring brings the other half — raking out sand and winter thatch, feeding beds, opening a yard back up to the light coming over the Hoosac ridge. Grass that goes into November clean tends to come out of April eager.
