About Abell & Son, Inc.

On the rice prairie that surrounds Welsh, the horizon gives away nothing, so sunrise arrives across the whole field at once and the day's mowing starts in that first flat light. Abell & Son, Inc. keeps a straightforward rhythm in the yards of town: cut, edge, trim the fence lines, blow the clippings off the walk. There is a real satisfaction in the moment a lawn goes from shaggy to squared, the border along the drive drawn clean as a pencil line. Summers here are long and green and insistent, so the grass gets met on its own terms, week after week, rather than once in a while. By the time the heat leans in at midday, what is left behind is a yard that looks like somebody cared about it.
