About Southern City Farm, LLC

South of Harvey the ground runs out into cypress and marsh, and the flat land in between was growing food for the city long before the subdivisions reached it. Southern City Farm, LLC keeps a little of that in its name and in the way it works — tending lawns, beds and plantings on the west bank the way you tend anything that grows. Through the warm stretch that means weekly mowing, edging, trimming and clearing; in the cool months it means cutbacks, bed cleanups and shaping shrubs while the turf rests and the camellias take their turn. Winters down here are short and mild, so the pause is brief and mostly a chance to get ahead of March. Then the light lengthens, the lawns green up from the roots, and everything starts asking for attention at once.
