Boss Hoggin'

About Boss Hoggin'

Stand still at noon in Moreauville in July and the whole village seems to hum: cicadas in the trees, a tractor somewhere out past the fields, and Bayou des Glaises sliding brown and patient through town. Boss Hoggin' cuts grass in this corner of Avoyelles Parish, and it wears its name with a grin and a little swagger. The swagger shows up in the result: grass laid down even across a wide country lot, edges squared off along the road, not a shaggy corner left behind. In flat farm country where summer growth never takes a day off, keeping a yard in hand is a running contest with the sun and the rain. Boss Hoggin' takes that contest on and leaves the place looking like it won.
