Grandscapes

About Grandscapes

Come October the cane trucks start rolling past the fields around Milton, and the light over this corner of Lafayette Parish drops into the low gold that makes a fresh-cut lawn look polished. Grandscapes works the yards in that season and in every other one: mowing, edging along the drive and the coulee bank, trimming around fence posts and oak roots, and clearing the walks at the end so the finish reads from the road. Ground this flat and this well-watered grows turf in a hurry, and the distance between a yard that is kept and a yard that has gotten away from somebody is measured in a couple of weeks. There is a real pleasure in the last pass, when the stripes line up and the edge runs true all the way out to the mailbox.
