Martin's Nursery and Landscape - Commercial Pickup Warehouse

About Martin's Nursery and Landscape - Commercial Pickup Warehouse

Sometime in October the first true cool front slides down across Lake Pontchartrain, and Metairie finally exhales after a long, wet Jefferson Parish summer. That is when the yards along these oak-shaded streets show what the heat did to them, and when Martin's Nursery and Landscape, working out of its commercial pickup warehouse, turns its nursery roots toward lawn care. A business built around growing things brings a grower's eye to the grass: cut at a sensible height, pulled back from the walks and driveways, with the landscape around it given room to breathe. The town's name comes from an old French word for a sharecropped farm, and it feels right that the ground here is still kept green by people who raise plants. Through the mild Gulf winter that follows, the lawns stay quietly, stubbornly alive.
