About Cajun Cutz Hocking

By mid-July the grass around Marion grows in bursts between thunderstorms — an inch overnight, then nothing for ten dry days. Cajun Cutz Hocking cuts to that rhythm, mowing, string trimming and edging on the schedule the weather actually keeps rather than the one printed on paper. Shade from the old trees buys a yard a little mercy in August; the open lawns bake in the sun, and get handled accordingly. The pleasure of the job is the moment the mower shuts off and a whole property has one direction to it, edges tight, clippings blown clear of the concrete. Marion and the roads around it all fall inside the day's loop.
