Grass Pros

About Grass Pros

February on the Cajun prairie is fog and standing water, crawfish ponds silvered over, traffic on the interstate reduced to a string of headlights. Grass Pros uses that quiet stretch for the unglamorous half of the calendar — dormant cleanup, hedge and shrub trimming, debris hauled off, edges recut so the first mow of March has something to follow. Then the ground warms, the grass wakes up hungry, and the mowing runs weekly straight through to fall. Flat land shows every wobble, so the lines get walked straight. Jennings and the towns around it: Welsh, Lake Arthur, Elton, Fenton and Crowley.
