Grave Cleaning and Painting by Lisa

About Grave Cleaning and Painting by Lisa

By the last week of October, cemeteries all through St. Martin Parish fill with families carrying buckets and brushes, and the tombs come back white in time for All Saints' Day. Grave Cleaning and Painting by Lisa does that work year-round in and around Henderson — washing markers and slabs, repainting lettering so a name can be read from the path again, and mowing and hand-trimming close around each plot where a machine can't be trusted. It's close, unhurried work: one small square of ground kept the way a family would keep it if they still lived down the road. When the wind comes off the basin and the stone is clean, a burial ground looks tended, and that shows from the gate. Henderson, Breaux Bridge, Cecilia and the little cemeteries scattered between them.
