The Lawn Ranger

About The Lawn Ranger

Freight moves through Harahan all day, and anyone working outside here learns the rhythm of it — the long horn, then quiet, then the mower again. The Lawn Ranger rides a route through those blocks, yard after yard, cutting and edging and trimming the way a round ought to go: same day, same order, nothing skipped. Late spring is the busiest stretch, when a week of growth is more than a mower wants and the trimming takes as long as the cutting. Evenings the light turns gold over the levee, and a finished street looks uniform end to end — cut, edged, swept, done. It is a small city with a great deal of grass in it, and this is honest work across the whole growing year.
