About Coushatta Iron & Metal LLC

By two in the afternoon the light along Highway 1 goes white and the parish seat seems to hold still. That is the hour Coushatta Iron & Metal LLC is out on the mowing rounds, working ahead of the thunderheads that stack up west of town and come through in a hurry. Grass that runs wild all week in this river-valley damp gets cut back to one even nap, the trimmer taken tight to fence posts and gravel aprons, every blade of it blown off the drives and sidewalks. When fall arrives and the sweetgums begin letting go, the rounds turn to raking leaves out of the beds and clearing them from the walks. It is plain outdoor work, and the reward is a yard that reads square and finished from the road.
