By June the cicadas start up in the Baton Rouge oaks around seven, and the smell of cut grass hangs in the yard until full dark. The Lawn Boy keeps that summer going the ordinary way: mowing, string trimming, edging along drives and beds, and blowing everything back off the concrete before packing up. Nothing complicated — just a yard a kid can run across barefoot and a border you could lay a string against. The mower does its stripes, the trimmer catches the mailbox post and the AC pad, and the lightning bugs come up out of grass that is exactly the right height for them. The work runs week after week from March into November, and it is good work to be known for.
