Russell's Lawn Service

About Russell's Lawn Service

Out in Vernon Parish the pines start right where the yards end, and Anacoco sits in that pocket of west Louisiana where bayou bottomland and Kisatchie sandhills trade places every mile or so. Russell's Lawn Service works those properties — the wide country lots, the tight town yards, the ones with more shade than sun and a stubborn strip of turf trying to make a go of it under the pines. Mowing, trimming, edging, clearing what the wind and the trees leave behind: it is straightforward work done at a pace the land sets. Spring green comes early here and holds late, so a place left alone for a month reads as abandoned, and a place cut on schedule reads as home. Pulling out at the end of a job with the lines running clean toward the treeline is a good way to finish an afternoon.
