About A - Stain

Morning arrives in Amite City on a slant, sliding down Highway 51 past the courthouse square before it ever reaches the back lawns. A - Stain works those first cool hours, mowing while the dew still holds each blade upright and running an edge along the walk you could check with a straightedge. Tangipahoa Parish grass grows like it has somewhere to be — one week of Gulf heat and afternoon rain and a yard will get away from a person entirely. So the rhythm keeps coming back around: cut, trim the fence line, sweep the clippings off the drive, leave the place looking rested rather than merely shortened. By evening the pines throw long shadows across a lawn that finally sits still, and that stillness is the whole point of the morning.
