About Thoroughbred Turf

October in Wilmore is brick and gold — the storefronts along Main Street, the wide campus lawns in the middle of town, sycamores dropping their leaves over every sidewalk. Thoroughbred Turf tends the grass under all of it: mowing on a schedule, trimming around posts and planting beds, edging the walks, and moving leaves off before they mat down and smother what is underneath. Winter here is short work and long waiting, the turf asleep and brown beneath a few days of ice, then greening again as soon as the county warms. April starts everything over with a first cut that always sounds like an announcement. A lawn kept up all year in a small Kentucky town is no small errand — it is the face the whole street looks at. Thoroughbred Turf is out in it week by week, keeping the lines honest.
