Southwest of Wilmore the land quits pretending to be flat and drops all at once toward the Kentucky River, where the Palisades stand up in gray limestone and High Bridge hangs in the haze above the water. Big Moe Specialty Land Services keeps lawns on the tableland above that drop — mowing, edging, string-trimming the fence lines, and hauling off what the cutting leaves behind. Summer arrives humid and green here, thunderheads stacking in the west by late afternoon, and grass answers by growing an inch overnight.
