About McCarthys lawn Care

West of Owensboro the sun goes down enormous over the river bottoms, and for about twenty minutes everything at Stanley — corn, gravel, fresh-cut grass — turns the same amber. McCarthys lawn Care puts in that last hour of the day: finishing the mowing, running the trimmer along the mailbox and the shed, and blowing the drive off before dark. Flat, open ground out here means big uninterrupted passes and a straight line to hold, which is honest work when the humidity finally breaks. Through the season it stays simple and regular, week after week, so nothing ever has to be rescued. There is a plain kind of pride in the last look back at a yard that is squared away.
