About K &E Lawn Services

Smithland stands where the Cumberland empties into the Ohio, and the rivers set the weather here — fog lying on the water at daybreak, towboats working past, storms you can watch approach for twenty minutes before they land. K & E Lawn Services takes the yards up the bluff and out along the river road: mowing, trimming, edging, and cutting back the growth that bottomland throws up after every warm rain. In Livingston County a lawn is half yard and half riverbank, and keeping it neat takes a certain persistence. There is a good hour late in the day when light comes off the water and every freshly cut lawn on the street goes bright. Then the mowers fall silent and the river keeps moving.
