Russell's General Service

About Russell's General Service

Smithfield is a handful of streets set down in the Henry County farmland, where tobacco barns weather to silver and the roads dip and climb all the way to the Little Kentucky. Russell's General Service keeps the grass around them — mowing house lots and open acreage alike, trimming fence lines and the ground around outbuildings, edging drives so the gravel keeps its shape. Out here a lawn runs straight up against a hayfield, and the difference between the two is exactly the line somebody cut. Summer evenings the swallows work the mowed ground and the whole place smells of cut grass and warm dust. A small town with plenty of yard in it, and the work carries right through the growing season.
