Grass Roots of EKY

About Grass Roots of EKY

April along US 23 is redbud and dogwood coming out of the gray, and eastern Kentucky wakes up in a hurry. Grass Roots of EKY opens the season then — first mows on lawns that have been flat and brown since November, winter edges trimmed back, whatever the wind left behind cleared away. From there it settles into a weekly rhythm across Pikeville and the communities strung through the Big Sandy country. Mowing, string trimming, edging, cleanup: plain work, done in order, on yards caught between the road and the hill. Spring here is loud with growth, and keeping pace with it is most of the job.
