There is a stretch of February when western Kentucky goes rust and gray, the river runs high and cold, and only the fescue lawns keep any color at all. Evergreen Outdoors watches for the turn — that week in March when the ground warms and the first cut of the year suddenly cannot wait another day. From there it is mowing, edging and trimming straight through the long green middle of the year, then cleanups when the leaves start coming down along Perkins Creek. Nothing complicated about the work; the reward is a yard that looks tended every week instead of once in a while. Paducah and the stretches toward Kevil and Melber are all on the route.
