Matt's Lawn Maintenance

About Matt's Lawn Maintenance

Morning comes slow over the Ohio at Owensboro, the river fog lying low in the bottoms until the sun burns a hole through it. Matt's Lawn Maintenance is out in that first grey hour, mower decks beading with dew, the grass still cool enough to cut clean. Mowing, string trimming, edging along walks and drives, then a run with the blower until the concrete is bare — that is the whole morning's work, done in order, done the same way every week. By the time the fog lifts off the water and the day turns humid, the yards behind them are striped and quiet. There is a particular satisfaction in a lawn that looks finished, and it is what keeps them coming back down the same streets.
