About Hobgood Landscaping

The first cut of the year always lands on a March day that feels like a fluke — sixty degrees, ground still soft from winter rain, every lawn in the county suddenly two inches too tall. Hobgood Landscaping opens the season right there: raking out what winter left behind, clearing sticks and matted leaves, recutting bed edges, then putting a blade to the grass for the first time since fall. After that it becomes weekly mowing and trimming, straight through the long green middle of the year. There's a particular pleasure in that opening pass — the smell of it, a yard waking up under the machine. Owensboro, Sorgho and Stanley start the season together.
