About Area Land Services

West of Mayfield the country gives up on hills entirely and simply opens: grain to the treeline, sky doing most of the work. Area Land Services mows in that kind of light, where a yard is a green room cut out of a very large horizon and a crooked line would announce itself from a quarter mile off. Late afternoon is the hour worth waiting for, sun going long and low across the rows so every pass throws its own shadow. In August the deck comes up and the pace slows, because grass in the Purchase would rather be left a little tall than scalped. What is left at the end is a squared border, a cleared drive, and a lawn that looks like somebody meant it.
