About Yard Dogs - Lawn & Landscape

There is a particular satisfaction in the last yard of a Friday — sun low over the Montgomery County fields, one more lawn to cut, and then a whole street that looks finished. Mowing is the bulk of the day, straight rows where the ground allows and careful turns where it does not, with the trimmer following behind to square up whatever the deck rounded off. Edges get recut along the drive and the walk, and every scrap of clipping is blown back into the grass where it belongs. The growing season runs long out here, from the first real green in April to the thin final cut in November. Watching a yard go from ragged to squared in an hour never quite stops being good work.
