About clays lawn care

October in Estill County turns the hills above Fitchburg the color of an old quilt, and the yards below fill with whatever the wind brings down. This end of the year is mowing and clearing at once — cutting grass while it still grows, then getting the leaves off before the turf underneath smothers. Cool mornings make for clean work: dry blades, sharp lines, a lawn that looks settled instead of buried. The last few cuts before the ground goes quiet are the ones people remember all winter, when they look out at a yard that was put away properly. Come March, that same lawn wakes up ahead of the ones that weren't.
