South of town the Fort Campbell Boulevard corridor runs busy all day, and the neighborhoods off it fill up in the evening with people finally home. Cummings Lawn Care times its work to that — grass cut and the walks blown off before the driveways refill, so the yard is simply done when the truck lights swing in. Mowing, trimming and edging make the week; in fall the leaves come off before they mat down and stain the turf. Toward Oak Grove and Pembroke the ground opens out and the sky gets bigger, and a freshly cut lawn under that much sky looks like an accomplishment. That is the small daily reward of the trade: leaving a place better than the hour before.
