Dusty Bushwhackers

About Dusty Bushwhackers

Out on the Pennyrile flats around Fort Campbell the sky takes up most of the view, and by July the heat stands in the road while the fencerows try to walk back into the yard. Dusty Bushwhackers goes after that ragged margin: the open ground mown, the fence lines and tight corners cut back with the string trimmer, the walks and drives edged, the loose grass blown off the concrete. A yard here isn't finished until its border is as straight as the middle of it. Late in the day the wind finally comes across the open ground and the cut turf gives off that green smell you only get in high summer. Between here and Oak Grove, that's a good afternoon's work.
