Steven's Yardwork

About Steven's Yardwork

November in Danville comes down to leaves — bur oak, maple and sycamore, filling the corners, drifting against porch steps, matting onto the grass after the first hard frost. Steven's Yardwork takes it one yard at a time: raking the beds out by hand, blowing the turf clear, putting down the last low cut of the season, trimming the edges back before the ground goes hard. There is no hurry in it and no shortcut either, because a yard finished properly in the fall is a yard that comes back easy in April. Hauling off the last load and seeing bare, even green under a bare tree is its own small payment. Small yards, close attention, and the place left the way anyone would want to find it.
