About Velasquez's and daughter lawn care services

August in Bardstown arrives loud — cicadas in the maples, heat already shimmering off Bloomfield Road by ten in the morning. Velasquez's and daughter lawn care services keeps mowing straight through it, working yards across town and out toward Cox's Creek, trimming around mailboxes and fence posts, edging drives, sweeping clippings off the concrete. The mower's line gets truer the more of the day is behind you. There is a particular quiet when the engine cuts and the lawn stands finished, striped and level and starting to cool in the shade of the trees. Then the truck rolls on to the next one.
