About Prairie Lawn & Landscape, LLC

East of Wichita's last rooftops, the ground turns back into what it always was — flat, open, cut into squares of wheat stubble that hold snow differently than any lawn in town, filling in low and even instead of drifting against a fence. Prairie Lawn & Landscape works that seam between city and farmland, clearing driveways and access roads where the last few houses back right up to open field. A plowed drive out there can look like the only mark on the whole horizon, a single dark line cut through white running all the way to the tree line. The pace is set by wind more than clock time, since a field with nothing to block it can refill a cleared road within the hour if the gusts turn. Quiet, exposed work at the edge of the city, on ground that still remembers the crop it used to grow.
