The floodway locals just call the Big Ditch cuts along the edge of the city, a wide flood-control channel most people only notice from one of its bridges, and the industrial ground near it fills with snow the way any open channel does — in long, low drifts nobody plans for. Midwest Foam Works clears the lots and access roads out that way, working around warehouses and rail spurs where a missed patch of ice can shut down a whole morning shift. It's heavier work than a residential street: wider passes, taller piles, snow pushed to the edges of lots big enough to need real planning. Plow first, then walk the docks and entrances by hand, making sure nobody's first step of the day is the one that puts them on the ground. Out here the city thins into function over form, and the work follows suit — bigger scale, same attention to the one icy spot that matters most.
