About J & B Lawn service

North of town in July, the fields go the color of a struck match and the harvest dust hangs in the air until dark. J & B Lawn service runs its route through those north Wichita blocks in that light, where lawns sit close to open ground and the heat pushes in off the fields all afternoon. The job is mowing kept on schedule so the grass never gets ahead of itself, trimming out the ditch line and the fence posts, edging the drive back to its true width, and clearing the mess before leaving. Out this way a yard is the difference between a house and a home place, and it does not take much to tell which one somebody is keeping. Their favorite view is the one in the mirror pulling out — everything even, everything squared.
