Jakob’s Lawn Kare

About Jakob’s Lawn Kare

By mid-July the cicadas in Andover wind up around four in the afternoon and do not quit until full dark. Jakob's Lawn Kare works under that racket — mowing, trimming close around the mailbox post and the swing-set legs, edging the narrow strip between sidewalk and street where every mower wants to scalp. Small lots reward patience, and the difference between a finished yard and a nearly finished one is a quarter inch nobody can name but everybody notices. Weeds pulled, clippings blown off the drive, gate pulled shut behind. Then on to the next one while the heat still holds the afternoon open.
