Backyard Boys

About Backyard Boys

Behind the bungalows of College Hill the alleys run straight and narrow, and midsummer fills them with cicada noise from the first warm hour to the last. Backyard Boys work the parts of a property most people only see from the kitchen window — the back lawn, the fence line, the strip along the garage that everything else grows into. Mowing, string trimming, edging, weeding the beds, and clearing the leaves and limbs a Kansas wind leaves scattered behind it. A back yard cut clean has its own particular feeling: room to sit down in, the smell of fresh grass hanging under the shade. That is what gets left behind at every stop.
