About 620 Lawncare

The whole bottom half of Kansas answers to one area code, and 620 Lawncare carries it plainly on the side of the truck. Wellington sits under more sky than most towns know what to do with, and the grain elevators stand along the north edge like punctuation at the end of a long flat sentence. The work here is mowing, edging, string trimming along fences and foundations, and clearing the clippings off walks and drives before the truck pulls away. On a June evening the light goes long and gold over Sumner County wheat ground, and a lawn cut that afternoon holds its stripes right up until dark. That last shut-off of the engine, the yard quiet, the edge running straight where the turf meets the concrete — that is the part worth showing up for.
