About Zackariah's Lawn & Landscaping Service of Topeka

North of the river, where Soldier Creek winds past the old rail yards before it empties into the Kansas River, Zackariah's Lawn & Landscaping Service of Topeka runs its plow routes through some of the city's oldest industrial blocks. Warehouse lots freeze into sheet ice fast in that low ground, and the crew has learned to hit those commercial addresses first, before delivery trucks are due, then swing into the residential streets that climb away from the creek toward higher ground. It is a different kind of winter work than the mowing the name promises come summer — heavier equipment, earlier hours, a different kind of precision — but the same crew handles both without missing a beat. A driveway scraped down to the concrete, a loading dock cleared before the first truck backs in: that is the standard here. Zackariah's keeps that corner of Topeka moving no matter how the storm lines up.
