About Merten Home & Lawn care LLC

Late August in Oakland comes on warm and unhurried, Soldier Creek running low behind the garden rows, the evening light lying flat and long across the yards. Merten Home & Lawn care LLC works that side of Topeka, where lots are generous and the grass takes the summer hard. Cutting high through the heat, keeping the weeds out of the beds, holding a straight border where turf meets driveway — that is what carries a lawn through to September. When the leaves let go here they let go all at once, and clearing them down to bare green is its own quiet reward. The point of all of it is simple: a yard that still looks tended after the tomatoes are finished and the nights turn cool.
