About Frakes, Inc.

The Kansas River splits Topeka in two, and on a January morning the fog off the water can freeze onto the bridge decks before it ever touches the streets on either bank — Frakes, Inc. treats those crossings and the blocks around them as the first priority of any storm. Working both sides of the river, from the shops of the NOTO Arts District on the north bank to the older residential blocks to the south, the crew clears lots and driveways in the order the ice actually demands, not just the order storms arrive on a map. There is a plain satisfaction in a business owner unlocking a door onto a lot that is already scraped down to blacktop, in a homeowner backing out of a driveway without a single spin of the tires. Frakes runs that job the same way every time: get there early, get it right, move to the next address. It is steady, early work, repeated address after address, that lets the rest of Topeka start its day on schedule.
