Faithful Landscapes

About Faithful Landscapes

When the Reinisch Rose Garden goes quiet for the season and the Gage Park carousel sits still under its winter cover, Faithful Landscapes is out clearing the walks that loop past it before the first joggers come through. Topeka winters arrive off the plains fast, dropping temperatures well before the clouds ever open, and the crew reads that shift and gets ahead of it — driveways scraped to bare concrete, salt down on the steps, before the roads even glaze. Working out from the park grounds into the surrounding Oakland and Westboro streets, they clear both the grand old porches near the park and the smaller ranch driveways further out. There is real pride in leaving a walkway you can cross without watching your feet, in a parking lot painted white with salt and swept to the curb. Faithful Landscapes keeps Topeka's sidewalks passable one block at a time, storm after storm.
