About Sammy’s Outdoor Services

By late October the oaks and cottonwoods along Tonganoxie's older streets let go all at once, and a yard that was tidy on Friday is ankle-deep by Sunday. Sammy's Outdoor Services spends those weeks on leaf removal and fall cleanup, pulling the drifts out of bed corners and fence lines and taking the last cut of the year down clean, so the turf goes into winter without a mat pressed over it. The rest of the year it is mowing and trimming on a steady route, edges kept true, mulch freshened in the beds, hedges brought back into shape. There is a plain satisfaction in the after — a lawn cut, a walk edged, a drive blown clear, nothing left behind but lines in the grass. It shows most on an ordinary weekday, when somebody pulls in at supper time and the place simply looks right.
